there was a girl...

There was a girl. Her name was Angie. She was fat.

So begins the book I read this weekend: Fat Angie by e.E. Charlton-Trujillo.

I picked it up when I heard someone say, "It might be the best book I've read all year."

It did not disappoint!

Fat Angie is a funny, dark, heartbreaking, clever, and charming book that teens and tweens will love. And, as for Fat Angie herself, she is a character you won't soon forget.

The cover of the book is so wonderful - sky blue with a purple heart - after you read the book, you'll want to go back and study the cover.  It makes me think that Chip Kidd must have designed it.
